Dragon Con 2017 Post-Convention Recap

Dragon Con is Atlanta’s internationally known pop culture, fantasy, and sci-fi convention. Today they announced a record attendance of more than 80,000 people for the four-and-a-half-day celebration, up from 77,000 at last year’s 30th Anniversary convention.

Legendary comic creator Stan Lee made his third and perhaps final Dragon Con appearance. He served as Grand Marshal for the Annual Dragon Con parade on Saturday waving to fans from a red convertible. Also in the parade was Jon Heder, star of Napoleon Dynamite. He emceed DragonCon’s costume competition at the Georgia Aquarium.

Dragon Con’s annual Robert A. Heinlein “Pay It Forward” blood drive attracted a huge turnout, with about 3,000 attendees donating some 6,000 units of blood and blood products this year. The annual blood drive is consistently ranked as the largest convention-based blood drive.
