Star Trek Futures, Klingon Art of War

This Saturday, April 19, we will be hosting two special interviews on the same day.

STAR TREK FUTURES

First, at 12pm ET (9am PT, 5pm BST) we’re joined by Dan Thale, writer/director of the upcoming independent film project, Star Trek Futures. Planned as a five-episode mini-series with each episode being roughly an hour in length, Star Trek Futures is set in an alternate timeline of the late 2300s and centers on a young Lieutenant Commander, Jack Crusher, his family, and the crew of the Enterprise-C.

In this new timeline, a large group of Vulcans who survived the destruction of their home planet has finally settled on A’ren, a planet located within a corner of the Beta Quadrant embroiled in a civil war between the native Cae and their subservient race the Ra’zae. The Enterprise and her crew are sent to serve as a diplomatic envoy to the Federation, but unfortunately, becomes caught in the middle of the brutal Cae civil war.

Star Trek Futures - Enterprise-C

The Enteprise-C featured in Star Trek Futures is based on Andrew Probert’s original design for the Ambassador-class starship. Aimed at delivering highly stylized futurist visuals, Star Trek Futures is heavily inspired by a nostalgic view of mid-to-late-20th century sci-fi. STF will rely on clever cinematography and musical interplay to create a sense of wonder and imagination set in the Star Trek universe.

KLINGON ART OF WAR

At 7pm ET (4pm PT, 12am BST), acclaimed sci-fi and fantasy author Keith R.A. DeCandido joins us to discuss his latest release, The Klingon Art of War.

Klingon Art of WarPassed down from the time of Kahless the Unforgettable, ten precepts have shaped Klingon culture and indoctrinated Klingons in the Way of the Warrior. With this new translation, people from all walks of life — and all worlds — can harness the ancient Klingon wisdom and learn to embody courage, discipline, and honor.

The Klingon Art of War lays out the principles of the Klingon code that animates their entire culture. Each chapter introduces another part of the Klingon ethic and explores the ways it informs Klingon life, behavior, and history. Each chapter also celebrates famous Klingons, warships, and battles, and the role they’ve played in advancing the Klingon Empire.

In addition to 15 Star Trek novels, 12 Star Trek novellas, short stories, comic books, and 9 Star Trek eBooks, Keith R.A. DeCandido has written novels, novellas, and comic books for franchises including Farscape, Spider-Man, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Andromeda, World of Warcraft, Starcraft Ghost, Supernatural, CSI: NY, Dungeons & Dragons, Leverage, Resident Evil, Kung Fu Panda, and more.
