Interview: Manu Intiraymi discusses The Circuit and Its Kickstarter

Manu Intiraymi joined us to discuss the independent anthology series project The Circuit: Urbiessa, the accompanying Kickstarter campaign and the fund-raising challenge event.

The concept of The Circuit: Urbiessa is an innovative idea to bring together a star-studded list of celebrity sci-fi actors with professional film level creators and include the fans both on-screen and behind the scenes. The goal is to create 10 episodes in 10 sub-genres of science fiction (sci-fi action, sci-fi comedy, sci-fi romance, etc.) directed by 10 different directors, all set in the fictional mega-city of Urbiessa. The episodes would largely be stand-alone stories, but connected by location and a mysterious over-arcing premise.

The Kickstarter campaign has met its initial goal for the first episode but in order to reach the goal for the entire 10-episode season (which would hopefully launch into multiple subsequent seasons) a lot more support is needed. While the campaign is currently at just over $85 thousand, the ultimate goal is to reach $200 thousand in order for big investors to match funds to bring the budget up to almost half a million. If any group of fans can help make this happen, it’s the sci-fi fans. The campaign ends on May 23, 2017, and to give it a big push Manu and several actors involved will be hosting a special event beginning on Saturday, May 21.

The Circuit Challenge LIVE will stream live on The Circuit’s Facebook page for 24-hours from 12:01am Pacific (the very beginning of Saturday, May 20) until the end of Saturday at 12:01am Sunday, May 21 (so that’s the entire 24-hour period of Saturday). Cast members of The Circuit will be joining The Circuit LIVE Challenge show during the live stream, new info about The Circuit will be revealed, as well as shout outs to fans and groups who donate to the Kickstarter. Cast members already confirmed for the LIVE CHALLENGE SHOW include: Manu Intiraymi, Walter Koenig, Tim Russ, Armin Shimerman, Robert Picardo, Olivia d’Abo, Cody Saintgnue and more. The challenge is for sci-fi fans and groups to pledge at least one dollar to the Kickstarter and share their donation on social media. The top 10 fan groups who raise the most money for The Circuit will receive on-screen credit in The Circuit.
