Geek Nation Tours – Trek Into The Valley of Fire

Geek Nation Tours returns to Nevada this August with the “Trek into the Valley of Fire – One Day Adventure” tour.

Geek Nation ToursGeek Nation Tours presents a one-day Trek Adventure to explore Nevada’s Valley of Fire State Park which was used as the filming location for Veridian III in Star Trek: Generations. The tour will visit the sites where Dr. Tolian Soran attempted to destroy Veridian III’s star, where Captains Kirk and Picard worked together to thwart Soran’s plans, and where the legendary James T. Kirk was killed and put to rest.

Along with tour host Teras Cassidy, the one-day tour will be guest hosted by Trekland‘s “Dr. Trek” Larry Nemecek who will undoubtedly enhance the tour with his vast knowledge of Star Trek lore and behind-the-scenes information. Joining the tour will be special guest Michael Westmore, award-winning make-up artist known for his work on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise along with numerous other film and television projects. Michael Westmore can currently be seen as the special celebrity mentor on the Syfy Channel series Face Off. Michael Westore was one of the few people on the location set when Generations was filmed at the Valley of Fire. Michael and Larry will share their unique first-hand knowledge on how the battle on Veridian III and Kirk’s death were filmed.

As the Valley of Fire was once the home of Native Americans including the Anazasi, the tour will also visit the sites featuring ancient petroglyphs.

In addition to the connection to Star Trek, the Valley of Fire has been used in many films and productions for decades. The 1966 film The Professionals with Burt Lancaster, Lee Marvin, and Claudia Cardinale was filmed there. The 1980s CBS TV series Airwolf used the Valley of Fire (dubbed “Valley of the Gods” in the series) as the hideaway location for the super-helicopter. The scenes depicting the planet Mars in the Arnold Schwarzenegger film Total Recall were filmed almost entirely in the Valley of Fire. Michael Bay’s Transformers filmed a scene with Autobots driving along the valley with other military vehicles during sunset. Lana Del Rey’s “Ride” music video was filmed throughout the park.

The tour will depart from the Rio All-Suites Hotel, site of the largest Star Trek convention in the world: Star Trek Las Vegas.

Booking is now open for the “Trek into the Valley of Fire – One Day Adventure” but slots are limited, so reserve your spot as soon as possible. To book the tour, and for more information about Geek Nation Tours, visit the official site at http://www.geeknationtours.com.
